A lay-in day today, and we were not up until 06:30, we birded the area around the hotel at Biana but generally saw relatively little, Wandering Tattler, White-faced Heron, Pacific Reef Heron and Maroon Shining-Parrot were the highlights. We headed back to Biana’s Bure fairly early and had a breakfast of donuts, pancakes, porridge and fried egg before a siesta and repack. We were called to our flight early but still didn’t depart until 13:15 landing in Nadi on the main Fijian Island of Viti Levu at 14:05. We hired two cars and then drove anticlockwise around the island to Suva and back to the Colo-i-suva Rainforest Eco Resort where we last stayed on 17th November. The drive, of around four hours, passed close to the coast but was a little uninspiring mainly through trashed habitat with a few rather uninspiring coastline views. Generally few birds were seen but for two Swamp Harrier, Fiji Woodswallow and Pacific Reef Heron. The evening was spent arranging bags in our chalet shared by the six of us and drinking beer whilst the rain poured down.
